I wanted to help you on the vaccum line issues. I had quite an ordeal trying to sort it out. The reason being is that my heater stopped working. So here is the link to my thread on the subject, and believe me it saves alot of time and troubleshooting.

So in short just plug up the top vaccum line that goes towards the back of the engine bay. it somehow controls your thermostat and if unplugged your heater wont blow warm air, and you will notice serious fluctuations in your temp gauge. I learned the hard way, and dont really want anyone else to go trough all that id did. i hope i helped.
