I don't think the EFI system will clear it, but Ford Racing used to make a chrome valve cover for the 2.3, I've got one on my Mustang II.
The EFI system might clear one with a spacer installed between the upper and lower halves of the intake, but I'm sure hood clearance would probably become an issue if that was done. I've only ever seen 2 of these, one was on Ebay (which is the one I have, I bought that bad boy the second I saw it!!!) the other on a 2.3-powered Pinto that used to dominated the local dirt track.
