1993 Mustang 2.3L Ignition Problems, new DIS I tried to revive and old thread I found on the same subject. And everyone might be tired of hashing through this type of problem. I'm sorry this is so long but I want to get every tidbit of information I can to you, so maybe I can get some help.
Here's the codes I'm getting:
224 Powertrain Control Module detected coild 1,2,3,4 primary circuit failure dual plug
218 Loss of Ignition Diagnostic Monitor Signal Left Side
222 Loss of Ignition Diagnostic Monitor Signal right side
223 Loss of Dual Plug Inhibit Control
What I've done so far. Replace DIS module, Much improved performance after I replaced it, even took care of the miss at idle. I've check all the connections on everything electrical under the hood. Pulled every plug on everything and reconnected. Didn't solve any problems and didn't see anything wrong as far as the connections go. Pulled plugs, right side plugs look great, left side plugs look like they are not firing. No build up of anykind on the left side plugs just look black like they are not firing.
The tach was not acting like I read in the other post where it was only showing about 1/2 the actual RPM.
I took the new DIS back and had it checked at ORiellys. It checked good. Wasn't satisfied so I took it to autozone and it failed on the second run. Went back to ORiellys and they ran the test 5 times and it still shows to be good. So I took it to two other ORiellys and it passed there. I don't know why it failed at autozone.
So is it a bad DIS module? Could the computer be bad and causing this? What else do I need to look for. This has got me stumped and ORiellys will not give me a new part or refund my money since it shows good on there tester.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
