Fuel I think you were heading the right direction with the fuel filter. I bet the new filter is either clogged or full of water.
You are either suffering from contaminated fuel (easy to happen, esp. in the winter) or a bunch of crud built up in the fuel tank and now breaking loose and causing havoc.
I'd examine the fuel filter and add some drying agent to the tank. If the car sat for any length of time, the tank could be afloat with water that condensed from the cold tank walls - and you might have gas that is just plain old and tired.
