its a thing called OBD-I you can get it at harbor freight for like 20 bucks for a cheap one. it comes with the thing you plug into your computer, and a program that you install on your pc that tells you what the code means and whatnot.

You can go to Autozone and they will pull the code for free once you have the code post it up then we can help.

Pick up this code reader. It comes with a book that defines all the codes you'll pull and instructions on how to use it. Very simple. The code reader plugs into the diagnostic connector that's under the hood located near the drivers side shock tower. It kinda looks like an oblong triangle.

Thanks evintho, I didn't know these things were so cheap. Just ordered a new one off Amazon for $25, they have some used for under $20. This thing will come in real handy.

That's the good news..I got 1 for my '95-Advance and Auto Zone only had equipment to pull from '96 and newer cars..

Now for the bad news, when you get the codes, and look in the book, sometimes you still don't know exactly what to do-for instance on mine-code 112(my memory?) is temp sensor voltage too high(sort of,from memory again)--now,do I have a bad sensor or wiring problems or what??--When I did all the other things,I put a new water temp sensor on--before the CEL came on
