1990 Mustang rattling sound on passenger side?

I have a 1990 2.3L mustang. I ave recently heard a rattling sound coming from the passenger side of my car. It sounds like its in the engine somewhere. I dont think my dashboard is loose or anything, and i emptied out my glove box just to be sure. It seems like it does it mostly when i am accelerating, or when i down shift and my RPM's are kinda high. (in the 3,000 range) And I deas what I should look at? Thanks !

Heat shield on the catalytic converter(s) would be a good place to start.

I also noticed that it seems to rattle even more if i roll up both my windows at idle. And that theres a weird smell coming the car after i drive it. Still exhaust you think?

is it like a swishing sound? if so, my car does the same thing. i cant tell if its coming from the tranny or glovebox

Makes sense. Mine does the same. Needless to say the one heat shield is preeeetty rusty.

Yeah it kinda sounds like that. drives me nuts you know? I just put my music up loud enough so you cant hear it!
