Default Swapping the 4 to the 8 1981 Mustang

Is it possible to swap in a Windsor/Cleavland from an Econoline or F150. I know I was saying I wanted a 3.3 but I dont like the intake and exaust on the same side, to me thats HP loss. What is the difference between the two shouldnt be much there both 351 cid right

The clevland and windsor are very different. I dought there is a kit for the clevland. Though they generaly have more power than the windsor stock, there are fewer parts for them and much more expensive. The windsor is an easy swap. It's basicaly a larger versoin of the 302s that came in these cars. Lots of swap kits out there. Needed: motor mounts, headers, possibly the oil pan, a few other parts.

DO the windsor and sove yourself the headache. though the clevland would be cool.

I was thinking 390 from a Country Squire or somim. if I sell my blazer I might still get the 3.3 I must have it.

by 3.3 you mean the 200ci Inline six? I had one in my first car...1967 mustang coupe with a 3 spd. It needed a carb and a tune up in a bad way but kept running. I "raced" my buddy in his 89 2.3l hatch to about 45 mph. we both had a full load of passengers. What a joke!

I ran a 19.2 in the quarter mile with the engine needing work.

Anyhow I saw an article a year or two back in possibly Mustang and fords magazine of a couple with an old falcon that turbocharged there 200 I6. I've got to dig that up. Pretty cool. I would like to do that to my carbed 2.3l.
Anyhow the odd ball swaps are more difficult, but I love to see them. Good Luck
