The gearing on a 2.3 is "quicker" than a gt do to the issuse about power. I have learn though replaceing parts that almost everything in a 2.3 is the same except the motor lol. I know i just said the gears are differnt in the 5 speed than a 5.0 but the trans is the same it is a T-5 trans, so we the 2.3 can use the trans for stronger and harder runs than a 5.0 because we all know that a 2.3 will not break the insides of the trans lol. I can keep up with a friend that has a 4.6 until I go from 3rd to forth (also I know what we can can do, and he thanks that mufflers that sound louder make the car go faster) hint hint we know that it helps with hourse power a little but it really depends on the drive ye haaaw. Remember it is not how fast your can can go but how crazzzzzzy you drive it

The whole transmission gearing in the 5.0 is slightly taller or that's what the ford service manual said.

If you are wanting qoutes then I can not answer the questions tech whys, I had the t-5 trans rebuilt and I asked the guy if he can put stronger insides in ( i am hopeing to add a turbo later and wanted to make sure that the inside could handle it) I asked if he could put 5.0. inside in, he told me that the inside are the same except for 1st 2nd gear to help it get off the line better do to it being a 2.3 I believe that what (taller gears are for)

This guy I trust he builds the trans for a friend of mine that races 2.3 fords and so far the only thing that breaks is the engine ( he made "drive of the year" GO Clint)

With that said, I know alot about the 2.3/2.5 ford lima motor. I currently have a Pro4 car that has a 325hp carbed motor in it.

Hello: I d like to know if someone could please give me information about this cars customization. I need to reach at least 300 hp with mi 2.850cc. all information will be appreciated ( I only reached 238hp).

Thanks

Sorry Yan_Jin, but he said from an N/A. I think that you are talking about a turbocharged LIMA.

The owners manual is long gone so I have no idea of where to look for specifications and stuff. Is it turbo or not? I don't have license plates or insurance yet so I can't drive it around any. Is this a fast mustang? More importantly, is it faster than the stock civics my friends drive? Its blue, does being blue make it faster? Anyways! Any help anyone could give me would be awesome. Thanks a bunch!

These are all good advice except the swap for a v-8.But keep it simple, start by opening up the motor, more flow more go!!!! Also install lower gears in rear end because most come with 3.73.

Question Which ranger header do I use?

I know that there is a stock ranger header that will give more power to my stock N/A 2.3 mustang, but what year ranger do I need to find it in??? Would an aftermarket performance header for the ranger work even better??

Question Sorry, more help please:)

Hey it's me again! I was wondering, how can I keep the weight in my mustang down, but insulate it for good quality sound, I am not talking massive subwoofers or nothing, maybe one 8" sub max! I know dynamat would be good, but does that add quite a bit of weight? Where would I have to dynamat specifically to keep the rattles etc down? Also, I want to put on black cobra R rims, would they look flush with my outside fenders, or would they still sit inward like the stock wheels??? Please help, I am useless! Thanks!

now I'm not much of a mechanic, but if you have a weight issue??? why dynamat the car?? that stuff will add more weigh, than if you just put a single ten with two amps plus new speakers.... if you use dynamat the way I see most have you've added the same weight with that plus the 8in.....

so go with the ten!! and be happy!!!! also get the s-10 sub box, it'll lay flat and you can mount your amps there...

The amount of weight that dynamat is going to add is not going to make or break any speed records guys. You have to remove 100 pounds to gain a tenth. Work on some power mods to increase the output up from the pathetic 100 hp these cars have and you will not need to quibble about 5 lbs of dynamat.

Check out my post in this thread it is number 12 and could give you some ideas for performance mods.

you are able to add a turbo to this car the way it sits they do have a kit on WWW.ssautochrome.com the only other thing u need to buy is the intake you dont have to change internals if you dont go above 5-6 psi of boost

For what it's worth, the hedman pinto header fit rather well in my '88 LX. It even has a threaded port on top for egr if you desire. I ran a 2 1/2" exhaust back to a turbo muffler. Still needs a tailpipe. I used an Erson hydraulic cam 230/230 dur. @ .050" .500"/.500" lift. Idles like a bone stock engine, I guess because of the 180 degree firing between cylinders. Has plenty of vacuum for brakes & a/c, and a whole new world of top end power. I am also using an MSD 6A with a Ranger distributor, Esslinger manifold and a Holley 2 bbl. Went to 3.73 gears and a HD radiator (2 row).
