Angry 1992 Mustang LX Tach Jumps Around

ok i got a 92 lx 2.3l and my rpm gauge has a short in it or somthing...it works somtimes and somtimes it dont...i got the duel plug for each cylinder and cant figure our which wire goes to the rpm gauge so it will work...can anyone help me fix my tach please??

I got the same problem.mine stays stuck around 6k rpm, but then i tap on the gauge and it starts working. I got the same duel plug and everything.

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

I was told that if it starts doing that the tach is shot and you have to replace it. Mine is doing the same thing and has for a couple of years now, mine stays at like 3k and will go up, but not below 3k unless I shut the car off, same dual plug engine.

well what i hurd is that the tach runs off one of the coils and i think one of my coils is bad...my gauge will just shut off and then turn back on then run a very lower rpm reading...is it hard to change one of these coil packs??

Change them both, if ones dead the other is soon to follow. If that doesn't work than its your ignition modual
