go to autozone. Give them the car's info. They'll ask if you want the 60" cable or the 2" cable. You know the one you want.

You're looking for Pioneer part number (CA-653). if Skippy the Wonder Parts Clerk can't figure it out on his own. Buy 2, keep one in the glove box.

on your transmission if it's a 5sp, you have your clutch cable, then above it you have this 2in cable that engages the clutch!!! I've busted two!!!! and it's a ***** to get in!!!

I know about the cable. I just didn't understand what you meant by a bezel.

You know you can get a little slack in the big cable by having a buddy lift up on the clutch pedal all the way while you pull on the end right? It's all part of the stock automatic adjuster. The dogbone cable goes in much easier that way. Less aggravation, fewer injuries, and alot less cussing.

Nope. There's a rubber boot that covers the clutch fork but that's about it. The problem with the cable is that it's just a piss poor design. Why on earth they decided to add all that mess when the already had a direct-pull setup for a 2.3 similar to the 5.0 that would have (and has been) easily adapted.

It's not so much a T-5 thing as it is bellhousing design. There was a 2.3 bellhousing that had the direct pull cable arrangement. It was behind the 4spd in '79 and '80 Turbo Mustangs. Fast forward to the introduction of the T-5 in the 2.3 Mustang and you get what you recently dealt with. A 60" cable that pulls one end of a bellcrank that in turn pulls a 2" cable that actuates the clutch fork. It's tiring just to explain it. Whereas the V8 cars, and earlier 4cyl cars had a cable that went to the clutch fork. Simple, effective, and less moving parts.

Even the 87 and 88 T-Bird Turbo Coupes got a hydraulic clutch. Why they kept that ridiculous cable arrangement is beyond me.

I dunno, oddly enough, as much as I complain about it, I still have the bellcrank arrangement under my '91. I do have one of the hard to find 79 Turbo Mustang bellhousings I just haven't gotten around to swapping them out.

I guess to go hydraulic, you'd need the pedal assembly out of an 87 or 88 Turbo Coupe. That, along with the clutch master cylinder, and correct hydraulic bellhousing, and a little plumbing, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for a reasonable price. I think they reinforced the firewall where the clutch master mounted on the Turbo Coupes. Nothing that can't be duplicated with a little ingenuity.
