Trying to figure out why after running the car for a while then turning it off and letting it sit for 15 to 20 minutes it will not crank back up. Have replaced starter solenoid, throttle sensor, icu, all parts in distrbutor and the sensor, fuel tank and injectors. Dont know what else. Maybe some one else has had this problem!
Did you check the ignition switch under the steering column... And did you check spark at ignition module? And even the PIP (pick up coil) in the distributor?
What about the fuel filter on the pump itself? And the ignition switch and pip (pick up coil) can both let car crank but stop it from stopping which is what happened to me... The pip is cheap but you need a press to change it
Did you check grounds? And what condition was the old one you took out in? And did you check the condition of the plug it plugs into? Also are you sure the tfi/icm is good? Also plug the old one in and see if it goes back to cranking again? And have you pulled codes? Or even checked compression?
Have you pulled codes. All it takes is piece of wire and watch and count flash of check engine light. Has the tfi on side of distributor been replaced. Also do you have and can use avolt meter. Can us it and determine problem and not have to guess. Maurice
I have ran the codes. Replaced everything that a coded. Except knock sensor cause they dont make them anymore and no one has one. Havent got to mess with it today been busy gonna try tomorrow.
have you done any trouble shooting at all?do you have spark? are injectors firing? what is compression hot? you have wasted a lot of money by shotgunning it sounds like. answer these questions and maybe we can figure it out
Have spark. Fuel injectors are good. Dont know how to do compression test. @maurice thanks! that part was bad changed it out now cranks and runs but still having same problem with after ran a little while turn it off and let it sit for about 30 minutes it will turn over but not crank.
go buy compression gage, not the junk that has a rubber nipple you hold to sparkplug hole but a screw in one
warm motor up
remove spark plugs
screw in pressure gage
block throttle body wide open
spin motor with starter till gage stops rising, usually 5/6 compression strokes
read gage, mark down reading, move gage to next hole and repeat until you have check all cylinders. post results
you did replace tfi module didn't you?
is yours one on the 2.3s that take 8 spark plugs?
how do you know injectors are firing hot? noid?
does car have alarm system?
has anyone turned dist.?
have you cleaned throttle body? try holding gas pedal all the way to floor when starting hot, if starts release pedal fast.if the car is flooding this will clear flood because it cuts off injector pulse while on floor
