Question How best to get inside 1989 Mustang instrument panel?

My '89 2.3l sat for a while (outside) unused before my cousin bought it a little over a year ago, and so of course there's some warp/wear/messiness in hard-to-get-to places. Like the instrument panel - the plastic pane is dirty on the inside, and I'd like to clean it. Are there ways and means to do so?

You can remove it to clean it but it takes a little bit. You have to remove the lower trim panels below the steering wheel, remove the 6 (I think) screws on the dash pod, unhook the light, hazard, and defroster connections and set the pod aside. This will give you the access to remove the screws holding the lense on the gauge cluster to clean it. Assembly is the reverse of the removal.

Alright, thanks! That sounds a little time-consuming but not terrible. How do I go about unhooking the light and defrost connections?

it's not time cosuming at all takes about an hour to do so maybe a lil bit more including the cleaning...to undo the defrost and light connections u will need a small screwdrive there are tabs that need to be pressed in at the time and pulling the light or defroster switch out after thats done follow wat gsalisbury posted
