Default 1992 Mustang lx 2.3 L automatic transmission replacement

I have a 1992 LX convertable. 2,3 L the transmission slips I would like to know what kind of automatic will bolt up to this engine and which would be the best to look for? Can someone please help?

First off, slipping does not mean the trans is toast. It means you better get it looked at before it becomes toast. If you're beyond that point and it's a bone stock daily driver, find a rebuilt A4LD from a reputable shop and "dance with who brung you". There's really nothing wrong with them in a stock application. Poor maintenance and years of neglect are the biggest reason for their failure in a bone stock car. It's not a performance transmission, but it's currently the only automatic with overdrive available for the 2.3.

Thanks for the info. My oldest son ran it out of fluid now it will go into reverse or drive but might take it 2 or 3 min. I will look for a good A4LD
