Default How to identify transmission type

Hi
I need to know how I find out what sort of transmision I might have on an 89 2.3 Automatic (assuming it is the original one). On the door plate, at the bottom it has a box that says TR and in there it says LWWHH. Mean anything to anyone?
Someone said it was probably a C4, but here is a picture of someone rebuilding a C4, and mine don't look like this

Mine does not have that big bolt-on plate or bands adjusters on the passenger side. On the driver's side on mine I have two adjusters, one either side of the shifter linkage. I can only assume they are for adjusting the bands, as they are two square-headed bolts held with a locking nut.
I have a piece of plastic pipe that comes out of the bulkhead and goes all the way to the back of the transmission where it connects to this plastic doodad that also has two wires coming off it...connects to some kind of warning light I suppose.
Does this sound familiar to anyone, and if so, can I use these bolt-things to tweak up the bands a little bit (and if so, by how much and would it be Clock Wise or CCW turn) and what is the plastic pipe whatsit for please?
Have a happy
Phil

I was gonna say "Well if you have to shift yourself, it's manual"

But I don't know :P

I don't remember any "doodads" on a C3 or C4. If you've got an overdrive trans it's an A4LD. Otherwise it's a C3.
