Default 1987 Mustang -1993 Mustang 2.3 Engines, Are The Blocks And Internals The Same?

On the 87-93 2.3 mustang engines. Are the blocks and internals the same except the cyl head?

No. Around '89, the main journal size decreased. The rods are the same and still carry a D4 (1974) casting number. I want to say there's a difference in the oil pump or the pickup and that may be due to the later use of an aluminum pan.

EDIT: I forgot to add that they also changed the shape of the front seal retainer in '89 to allow room for the crank sensor.
