Default 1993 Mustang LX, Tachometer malfunction

Has anybody else had this problem of their tachometer not wanting to drop below, say, 2500 rpm, but functions properly above 2500 rpm. I replaced the old faulty Ignition Module with a used one that passed the O'Reilly testing. I noticed that the tack responded better to throttle, but the needle will still not go below a certian piont unless the engine is shut off. Then the needle goes all the way back down. My next step is to replace the instrument cluster with a good used one, to see if that will fix the problem. What has worked for other people to fix this problem?

Yeah everyone will usually say it's the DIS module, and so would I since I had a similar problem. My tach was virtually dead. I replaced the ignition module and the tach works fine now, but the car doesn't. It likes to turn off randomly, not stall mid you, it just turns off like say driving down the highway at 65. Gone through two modules so far, a timing belt, a crankshaft sensor, still it does it. Not sure where to go now.

Try changing the Ignition Switch. The ignition switch controls the electrical on/off to the vehicle, and the switches do wear out over time. The switch is not the same as the lock and key, don't let the people at autozone try to tell you "all the connections are made in the lock and key switch", THE'RE NOT. The switches are about $10 at Autozone. Mine was wearing out and I had problems with the turn signals and blower working randomly and then not working at all. The switch is mounted on the steering column with two tamper resitant torx head screws and has a big quick connect electric plug going into it.

Thanks for the info krk105.
I own a 92 Mustang Gt convertible 180k came out from work today and my turn signals and my blower motor did not work. My hazards do work. I replaced the flasher relay (behind the glove box) and it did not fix the problem. Sounds like I need an ignition switch. I will replace it this weekend. Hopefully it fixes the problem.
