Default FWD Trans to SVO/TC/XR 2.3L motor?

Hey folks,

I am working a project and would like to fit a 2.3 turbo into a mid-engine rear drive car. Does anyone know of a Ford 5spd FWD trans with a bolt pattern that will match the 2.3T block? This will be engine right-side, trans left side, CW rotation. If not, would anyone have thoughts about the strongest Ford FWD left-side trans? I will custom-make an adapter.

(sorry for ignorance, I haven't had much if any experience with Ford FWD vehicles).

I read a previous post that talked about several 2.3 block variants not allowing certain layouts.

TIA,

-Matt

Try Turboford.net Search there. I've stumbled across a post or two there in the past that dealt with a transaxle behind a 2.3T I think it was an Escort transaxle, but I can't recall for certain.
Rather than give you some BS answer, I'll point you in the general direction of where the answer is.

Check em out. There's a ton of info there.

2.3 in the Tempo was a totally different engine but the bolt pattern looked to be the same as the RWD 2.3. If you have a older Ford Racing Catalog they had both blocks pictured with the measurements. I will mark this thread and if you don't have a answer by Saturday when I am back home I will verify the information in my old Catalogs at the shop.

Looks like the MTX-III Transaxle is the ticket. These things came in a wide variety of cars with a wide variety of ratios (3.33, 3.52, 3.73, etc.). Below is the list of 3.73 donors I dug up on the net.

Thanks for the tips!
