Default 1980 mustang st. 6 cyl. will a 2.3 5spd trans. fit ?

i was wondering if anyone had any info. on using a 2.3 5spd. trans. 0n a 200 straight 6

It won't fit.

IF you've got a 250ci straight 6, the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as a Windsor V8.

The 200 on the other hand had a funky bell housing and located the starter up high. I don't know of any setup that would adapt a T5 to the older style 200 bellhousing.

i have a 80 mustang with the 200 6 .. if memory serves don't some 200's have the starter at the bottom as well ?????

Not that I'm aware of. But then again it's been 20 years since I played with L6 Fords. (Wow, the 20 years thing just hit me... damn)

Anyway, I remember when I did a 4 speed swap on an C4 equipped Maverick with a 250, I could use the Windsor bellhousing. I found this out after being sold the wrong bellhousing. I later found out that the bellhousing was from a 200. The clutch Z bar was different too. I doubt you'll have to worry about that since all the foxes had cable clutches.
