3 inch Clutch Cable keeps snapping

Hey Guys,
Brand new clutch kit and fork, and I've went through 2 of the smaller cables in two weeks. Which is actually 2.25 inches and not 3. The only changes I made before the clutch was replacing the plastic quadrant with an aluminum one about 4 years ago. I am using the ones from Oreilley, and I had this same one on since the quadrant change.

Reason for the new clutch is the fork and throwout bearing both went out.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure where it was but I have read a whole thread on that issue and fixes. Might have been here or on the Turbo Ford site.
I wasn't paying a lot of attention as I have an auto trans.

Edit, found one of the threads. Talks about where to get the cables and also links to improvements.

Also, you may want to search using "dogbone" without the quotes. Seems that is the more common name for that cable.

Going through my threads and I realized I never saw and responded to this thread. Appreciate your response and the links russosborne.

I had taken it down to the shop, and my guy did this fix which is the same as the second link. Been good every sense.

I used to have to keep a spare in my 1993 2.3 at all times because the crappy aftermarket ones wouldn't last for long. Luckily, that trans kicked the bucket so I didn't have to worry about that car anymore. The body was rotted really badly in strange areas so that was the excuse to get rid of it.
I've seen someone machine a "cable" out of high strength steel but that's probably going to be on the expensive side though it will be the best possible fix. It's actually in the second link from above but here's the actual thread link to that particular post: (167) Dogbone Cable Upgrade on 2.3L Mustang | Ford Mustang Forum (allfordmustangs.com)
A regular bolt with washers will work but it'll eventually wear into the slotted cable catch part, forever damaging it. You really want a ball or at least a tapered head bolt there if rigging it like that.
