Please help. My 1990 LX won't start- and there is the odor of gasoline on the dipstick. A little background: last month the timing belt broke. Upon replacement of the belt and the resetting of the timing I found that I was now only running on three cylinders. I figured (haphazardly) that since this was a secondary car I would wait and repair when I had time. Now, after putting some miles on the car, I go to crank it, it spins but acts as if it's not getting any gas. Solutions? Tips?
i start by doing a compression test to see which cyl/cyls are bad.
if only one cyl is bad...and you don't want to fix that problem.
then change the oil. the PCV system returns vapor in the crankcase back to the intake.
remove F/I connector on the cyl that is bad. so fuel won't be sprayed for that cyl.
clean the spark plugs (should do it while doing the compress check)
also, check for fuel in vacuum hose at Fuel Pressure Regulator.
