I have a CF blower from Vortec and LOVE its power output/deliver and potential... with that said though, with a 'do-over' I'd go turbo...
I would also LOVE the power delivery of a TS (big block KB) but am of the opinion that puts more wear on the drivetrain for a 'driver'...
I feel the same way instant boost is fun but not the best. Since I launch at 3500 I am all ready at 5-6psi which is right around 450rwhp
So the whole having to create boost really does not take to much of effect in drag racing and once you hit 4th the top speed is unimaginable with a centrifugal.
A TS would be best for roll racing and street driving.
A Turbo to me is just the perfect set up they are just way to efficient and it is way to easy to go to a bigger turbo and add boost
oo and dont be sorry to hear that I am over seas. i love being deployed and I love serving my country. I volunteered for this one. Pissed of every one I know but I do it because I chose to not because I have to.
hello to all, I am relatively new to this web site (joined like an hour ago or less). I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT Automatic with 10,000 miles on it. Got it last summer and is currently stored for the winter. I am quite satisfied with its power but recently i've had a lil money laying around so i was thinking about adding a power-adder. I've actually visited tons of websites and done alot of research but theres just nothing better then getting opinions from actually humans ha ha. As far as i know, the Whipple supercharger H.O. intercooler seems like my best bet according to some. I've looked at FRPP's superchargers as well and the 400 h.p. kit looks good but 500 h.p. would be better, only problem they don't offer to manuals. This car is not a daily driver, i keep it in good shape, but i would like to make it last quite awhile and if possible keep the warranty till expired which is next year. Now if anyones got comments are recommendations it would be much appreciated. I am a noob to warn ya, but i am learning so have patience for me. Thank you!
Go with a whipple kit (several companies use this supercharger, but just private label it - ie. kenne bell for example). Mercedes Benz uses this s/c on it's AMG 55 series cars as well.
It's the most efficient of all the superchargers out there at close to 74%.
They won't make as much peak hp as a vortech/novi, but the power under the curve is hard to beat and makes for a lot more fun driving around town. I've owned both (vortech s-trim and a whipple) and if I were to go with a s/c again, it'd be a whipple based supercharger without question.
I agree every one talks about the instant power of a TS but how often are you driving around at 1000 rpms. In town I am around 3 grand. Even though I am not at full boost I am making around the same power at half boost as a 8psi KB.
Also all what instant boost does to you on the street is more tire spin its bad enough I have it with my centr.
Also if non of you have ever been in a 600 horse power Procharger I suggest you do it some time. You are seriosly planted in your seat the entire time.
I will challenge any T/S guy at the track when ever he wants when I get back, loser buys the hot wings and the beer at hooters
Here's my opinion(granted this is coming from someone who has never driven any FI car, just read em):
I think the best type of FI ir probably Turbos with Centri's coming in a close second(that's in terms of performance). Twin screws are great off the line, but centri's and turbo's will always seem to dominate after they spool up.
But I will probably be getting a twinscrew mostly because I like off the line power, I absolutely LOVE the whine, and I'm not really a track person(and therefore don't care about ETs). With me, it's just more of a fun factor.

Yeah I need more practice. I don't think I will see the 11's though by the time I get back my car should have close to 700 rwhp and completely finished.
I am still thinking though of a 3sd auto or the Tremec 6060? I cant decide If I want to sacrifice my new clutch and flywheel for an auto and spend the money twice, but if i get the auto with some good weight reductions I will have a consistent car running mid to low 10's
I say go with the 3sd auto, that and a decent stall to get you in your powerband quicker and I bet you would shave .5 off your et with just those two alone. your trap speed might lose a couple MPH but oh well.

Yeah I am in a huge toss up with my car. My mind changes every week. I would love to see my mustang in the 9's but then I love having it as a show car and being able to drive it where ever I want.
So I am in between two things. Finish my tune and then pop on new wheels and a drive shaft and call it quits and start a new car.
I would like to gut out a FOX body and turn it into a complete drag car that is 8 second capable. That way I dont have to worry about killing my baby or gutting it to get into the 9's were a FOX will hit 8's easily with a big turbo.
Oh....I was under the impression that your car was just a drag car. If it isnt then I say go with the idea of the fox body as a dragster. Like you said they can be made wicked fast cause they are so light.

my car is more of a show car then any thing else.. i just love to drag race and the windy roads are fun but you get tickets for that unless your on a track and all my friends drag race so it makes it more fun cause im chilling with them.
So i can careless how the car handles as long as it looks nice, drives straight and goes fast
If I had a do over it would be turbo but as is I am very happy! I wish you on here could ride or drive my car!! Just awesome!!!
Yeah I think there is a HUGE misconception on Centrifugals. I have been in sum that feel like crap but I have been in a whipple that felt like I was standing still.
My biggest point for Cent. is how many times do you ever launch at 1000 rpms so why build boost that low. Also what happens to your tires when your on the street putting down that much power that early. By the time you even think about hooking up I am all ready at 8psi and grabbing tire. I does take more skill though racing a Cent blower but street racing is bad
Its nice though to because if you have never been next to a Procharger you have no clue what you are missing in sound. I have never been reved on at all and if I down shift to spool it up OMG peoples jaws drop instantly. There is no sound like an F-18 coming in for landing.
hey i dont really know too much about my 05 gt.... But i am interested in supercharging it and you seem to know what your talking about.... I dont even know where to start...What brand? How much PSI without having to do internals etc. Any help would be nice. Any reccomendations on a good shop in WA state to have it done at? And how much money should i be lookin to spend for a solid set up... I just want more power but nothing too crazy... I dont drive my car much, it would just be nice to have a little extra power and the sound of the charger is awesome!
thanks for your time

I have a Procharger and I LOVE IT. The only thing is that I wish I would of bought the F-1R which is not street legal but smogging my car is the last thing I am worried about.
Twinscrews are good if your car is a street driver and you want instant horse power. The twinscrew will probably be more fun for driving around town and stomping on it. The best Twinscrew in my mind is a Kenne Bell and I would get a large size blower. You may think you dont need it now but in a year trust me you will wish you did.
I prefer centrifugal because they are not instant boost so you can launch with out worry about breaking loose and they make BIG power you can also supplement the lack of lowend boost with good suspension and gears.
Both to me are great to have. I feel that a centrifugal will beat a twin screw with the same boost. My friend has a KB with 510 RWHP at 10psi and we have the same tuners and every thing are cars are all most identical with the exception of company's that we went with. Well he will have me off the line but after that I pull him 2 car lengths every time.
No matter what you can not go wrong just make sure you do it right and dont try to save a buck just buy every thing to do it right the first time and I can not stress this enough that you build your block. With stock rods I would not go over 430hp

We need more details....
what type of SC do you want? Centrifugal, TwinScrew, roots?
"I just want more power but nothing too crazy"
How much HP is that exactly? 400, 500, 600, etc?
Where do you want the power? Down in low rpms? or built as the rpms go up?
