I think we can only do tunes on our Mustangs, correct? I see on ebay these performance chips for like $8-$10. Anyone have any info about these chips if they are fake or do they really work?
Rule: if it's exceptionally cheaper than the standard way of doing it, then it's probably a scam.
Example
Sale: A leaf blower($50), duct Tape($3).. Duct tape the leaf blower to your intake, it acts like a Supercharger.
Reality: it's a crock.
I tried this once but kept running out of extension cord

i read somewhere that the standard leafblower gained 3hp and a high power one gained 7hp.... to the wheels.... it was pretty funny but true, it had the dyno to prove it

I believe that was on a carbureted engine, but I could be wrong.

Okay, here's the best explanation for why you might want to save your money:
These "chips" are really resistors (available at Radio Shack for about $0.20 each). They are wired into your IAT (intake air temperature) sensor and serve to trick it into thinking the ambient air temperature is colder than it really is. Why do that? Ever notice how your vehicle seems friskier on cold mornings? Colder air is more dense and will support more fuel and a slightly advanced timing curve. As the outside air and the engine warm up, the IAT sensor alerts the ECU which then leans out the mixture and retards the timing slightly to maintain the desired air/fuel ratio. In other words, the IAT sensor is there for a very good reason.
These cheap resistors may produce slightly more power under certain circumstances (though the 35-45 HP claims are absurd) but it's short-lived. Why? The 02 sensors in the exhaust system detect the rich air/fuel ratio and immediately tells the ECU to lean it out. In addition, your car is programmed to richen the A/F mixture at full throttle anyway, so the IAT sensor is virtually over-ridden.
The resistors also cause their own set of problems as they monkey with the vehicle's air/fuel ratio on a linear basis without regard to throttle position. ECU tunes such as are written for the SCT or Diablosport units alter the stock air/fuel ratio (as well as timing parameters) but do so at different throttle positions to provide a consistent and efficient power delivery. A cheap resistor can only fool the ECU into dumping more fuel into the mixture, ruining your gas mileage and possible causing engine damage down the road.
Save your money. A Jegs or Summit Racing decal on the rear bumper will provide as much performance gain without the headaches. Just my $0.02.
