Default Janvil Glass Scratch Remover

Has anyone used Janvil's Glass Scratch Remover on their windshield for a minor scratch?

I just realized that I have 4 inch vertical hairline scratch (cannot feel it with a fingernail) in the driver's side portion of the windshield. I only see it when the light (sun or bright lights at night) hit it. It is definitely visible at night when sitting behind someone's bright red taillights.

I once had someone remove some hairline scratches from my '95 Stang windshield using cerium oxide and a buffer and unfortunately it left some serious distortion and I ended up replacing the windshield a few days later.
Supposedly the Janvil's Glass Scratch Remover can be applied by hand and is supposed to be distortion free.

Not familiar with it but, at that price, it's worth a shot.

Mark, I agree, it's not expensive.

UPDATE --
The Janvil Glass Scratch remover didn't work...however, I found a local windshield repair person who has done some work for me in the past and they used the Glasweld system (buffing with their products and keeping the buffer constantly wet with water) and they removed the scratch and with no distortion! Took about 20 minutes of buffing. You may want to keep in mind that the glasweld system works! The four-inch hairline scratch is gone!

MickMach, like I said, you'll have to call around and see who has the Glasweld system in their shop (in this case, these people had it at home in their garage)...not all glass places have it. Most glass companies just want to sell you a new windshield. You'll have better luck by contacting those who advertise that they "repair" windshields.

MARK;

Which product of Janvil did you use? I used the Janvil Glass Revive System on My 03 Cobra after I got sand paper damage scratches on my glass. The Ford Dealer here recommended the Janvil product since they use it in the body shop. I ordered the Glass revive kit silver kit and the Glass Scratch remover.

The Glass scratch remover is as hand applied product and it does have limitations. The Glasweld stuff look a lot like the Janvil Glass Revive kit but is about a 10th of the price that Glasweld is trying to change for it. It is not something that most would keep in their garage. After $100 and about an 1.5 hours work, I got all my glass looking brand new. My toy looks presentable again. I shopped around before I bought the Janvil stuff and all I got from everyone was replacement quotes. The Ford Dealer here wanted to charge me a fortune to do the polishing for me and I must commend them for letting me in on their Secret of using the Janvil product.

I have also bought the Janvil Headlight Plastic Restore polish for my headlights. I can actually see at night again. New lights were going to cost me big and the Janvil polish was $23.

In my opinion, anyone who has a “Stang” that is looking a little hazy needs to give Janvil a call. They helped me out big time.

Kyle
