Default What's a good clutch setup for a supercharged 2006 Mustang GT?

What is a good clutch setup for my supercharged 06 stang... i have 460rwhp and still on the stock clutch which only has around 2500 miles on it... how long u think the stock clutch will hold, and what would be a nice upgrade? This car is not a daily driver, i drive it maybe 3 days a week if im lucky and only get on it 1 day a week if that! thanks for any info!!!

A SPEC Stage 3 would work well for you.

You'll need a new flywheel. I run a SPEC Stage 2+ with an aluminum flywheel but you'd probably want a steel one.

so go with the spec 3, not the 3+? do they both come with the low peddle pressure option?

Either would be fine... I'm hoping 5Twenty will chime in with his opinion.

I would not recommend a stage 3. It is very harsh. It's a fantastic clutch for the strip or if you like to run hot on the street. It is very close to an on/off switch. I now have a stage 3+ but I haven't run with it yet so I can't add anything really. I do know it's a round disk, unlike the stage 3 which is a 6 puck disk. The round disk is a bit less harsh and chattery. Still very strong, just a tiny bit more forgiving.

you do not need a new flywheel. my spec 3+ just went in and I kept the stock FW. only the first specs needed to have a new FW. I haven't driven the car yet but the shop owner said this of the clutch...

"The clutch has a very positive engagement. It is either ON or OFF. It will be great for holding up to the power but it will take some getting used to. The pedal effort is nice and easy, but the on/off nature of the engagement is the most agressive I have ever felt in a street car. "

I am running the Spec stage II+ and it's great. It took a while to break in but once it did I can't complain. The pedal pressure is not too bad and it has a ton of feel. It's super easy to launch even with true street tires. I got the billet aluminum flywheel when I got mine. I figured it would be a great time to try and get back some of the weight I added by putting on the blower.

That's because the clutch that comes with the GT doesn't use a traditional throw-out bearing. It has a hydraulic concentric slave cylinder. And since you will have the tranny out you may as well replace it since it is a wear part, especially if you have over 10,000 miles on the clutch. If I remember it's just under $100. You'll need a new pilot bearing as well, regardless of your mileage, another $25 or so..
