Default noise from rear seat area maybe even in trunk

when launching from a dead stop to an aggressive take off in first, there is a nasty noise coming from the rear area and maybe even form the trunk. I dont know where it is. I thought it may be the seat belt pretensioner's but it seems farther away than the back seat. Shisting from 1st to 2nd, the noise is still there just not as loud. Is it the differential or maybe even the pinion angle from when the drive line articulates from the sudden impact of torque? Help. 4.6L 5 speed manual 3:73 gears stock.

Are you sure it isn't something simple, like your spare tire or jack loose? If your drivetrain is stock, it's most likely not the culprit. People who've replaced their lower control arms have had the bushings crack, but I don't see in your profile where you've modified your suspension.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

Have you replaced any exhaust components? Many times the sound can come from the overaxle pipes hitting either the panhard brace or the differential housing.

I know every once in a while my Side exhaust moves a bit and under certain RPMs it taps/rattles against the sideskirt opening.

Putting my shoe into it and pushing it one way or another readjusts it, til the next time I bottom out on something.

But I know I have another noise, almost like a loose speaker in the rear deck or something, but everything I've checked is tight. I'll be sound deadening the trunk this weekend, so I'll tear everything out, and maybe find it, if I find something I'll let you know.

I have heard something like a rattling, or something shifting in the trunk area of my car since the car was new. and it would usually only do it when turning at low speeds. maybe at the low speeds there wasn't alot of the other noise happening and that allows me to hear the "rattle".

I was alerted to the idea that th charcoal canister could be the culprit. if you remove the gaurd under the spare tire underneath the car, you will find this canister. if it isn't that, it could be something else in that area under the car.
I just never got around to investigating this area.

I had a noise back there on acceleration that was difficult to find. The rod that is welded on the driver side muffler was hitting the body of the car (the inside of the rear bumper) when the motor would torque-up. I just grabbed my hack saw and shortened the rod about a half inch. Good luck!

Actually it was more likely due to heat expansion. I had the same problem on mine.

That does make more sense since the exhaust seemed to "grow longer". Thanks.

My hanger would actually move close to an inch when fully warm.

Thanks guys. I'll give it another look asap and take into considreation all of your solutions. And you were correct to say that my Stang is stock with the exception of the axle backs. Lata.
