Default 2006 Mustang GT Convertible rear suspension noise

Just joined and already have a question to anyone who has come across a "clunk" noise in rear end of 06 convertible mustang GT. I have Steeda sport springs and pan hard rod, Magnaflow Magnapack Cat back exhaust. When I go over small bumps at low speeds I hear clunks in rear end passenger side. The exhaust seems to have enough clearance and this happens at low speeds, that and my squeeks in the front suspension like a tweety bird is being smacked when I go over bumps in the road. Any ideas anyone? bushings, broken mounts bolts or welds. Dealership cannot find route of problem on the rack yet I can always reproduce the sound. Otherwise I love my GT and have had no engine problems even after C&L cold air intake, Diablo Sport tune, and many trips to Vegas.

Welcome... With the suspension loaded I'd recommend you check the clearance of the overaxle pipes with the diff housing, panhard bar support, and spare tire well.

After posting the almost exact same problem, many people had me checking the clearance of the pipes ect. I finally got tired of taking things out to try to find it. I took it back to the dealer and drove their tech around to re-create it. After four rides and three days at the dealer they found the convertible motor had come loose and the bushings that hold the motor up had moved, allowing the metal to metal clunking sound. Got back about 2 weeks ago and noise is gone. Lots of good ideas here. Hope that helps.

I had the same issue with my 06 vert after lowering, and found it to be the axlebacks. There is a bolt above the mufflers that every time I went over a bump my muffler would smack it. I had to readjust one of my mufflers and tighten the hell out of everything. I put my hand on the tailpipe and lifted up and that is how I found it to be my muffler.
