well still no engine codes yet, the car did have a high idle and start showing symptoms again. but it leveled out and was ok for the rest of the night.
BUT! tonight and i heard this the other night but wasnt sure, at higher RPM under load... 2nd gear at 4500-5500rpm i could hear really bad pinging.. spark knock... what the hell! i cant win!
i even have the tune for regular fuel installed. this is making me want to trade the car in for a challenger really bad. if i cant do a basic bolt on and make the car run right im just going to give up. i built a mid ten second AMC gremlin from scratch but i cant tune a brand new mustang for an air filter??
im going to order an SCT tuner and get it over with... if it solves all the problems im going to have a little talk with hypertech.

I got mine in today from Bama chips. man it makes my car sick. I can not believe what a great tune Doug put together for my Airaid Cai, it is awesome. The pinging sounds like maybe it is in the tune .
I am just wondering where do you gas up? I use nothing but Chevron.I checked my throttle body, because I was reading some posts that people needed to clean them. Well my throttle body and maf where very clean.Have you checked them?

well im up in canada and we dont have chevron, our best fuel is sunoco 94 or Petro canada ultra 94. tonight i was on empty ( not a regular thing ) and i had no choice and had to get some Esso 91... but like i said it did ping slightly the night before with 94 octane in it.
i just finished sending a pretty loud email to hypertech because i finally got their reply and they basically told me to put it back to stock and see if the car runs good... whats the point of having the tuner if the car runs good stock ?
anyways, im really going to look into the SCT i even told hypertech that and i might look at those bama chips
the car has 8000kms on it, which is about 6000 miles, and im putting lots of miles on the car just trying to get the tune and bugs figured out. but the throttle body is as clean as when i put it on and same with the maf. i had the CAI off the other day to reinstall the insert and looked it all over.
i just sent an email to doug and bamachips to see what he thinks and what he recommends. hopefully he can set me up with a kick ass tuner for my car. i mentioned some other mods im planning and hopefully he can take them into consideration.

also the track is opening up here this coming weekend and im hoping to get it down to see if its actually made or lost power. my best with the car was a 14.10 the day i drove it home from the dealer haha.
so hopefully with the suspension work ive done, better tires and me knowing how to drive the car ill crack a 13.50 or better... and hopefully i dont blow it up trying.
if it doesnt blow up before the weekend im sure it will be fine haha, i drive it like i stole it 90% of the time.
but yes, i will be smart about it and if the problems seem to get worst, or if the pinging continues after i fill the car up with 94 octane i wont take the chance. i can sit it out for a couple weeks and just help my brother with his prostreet fox body.
hypertech max energy is a really piss poor design if you ask me, you get certain questions and you have a Y button and a N button and some scrolling arrows.
you can adjust for air intake systems
adjust speed limiter
adjust rev limiter
adjust for gear swaps and tires sizes
and cooling fan temperature on/off

so i talked to doug from bamachips and i think im going to give it one more week and then order a kick ass programmer from him. no more B.S. and never will i sell i hypertech product in my shop if it turns out to be that...
