so here i am again with a problem that doesnt want to go away appearently. ive been scratching my head and wondering what i might have done wrong... but im not sure anymore haha.
how many of you guys have changed the throttle body as well as the CAI? ive been having nothing but trouble since i put them both in my car. i have the airaid kit without the insert. and i have a BBK throttle body and i tuned it with hypertechs max energy programmer. at first i didnt have the programmer in and i was running with the insert. the car would idle high all the time and throw check engine lights. so i bought the programmer and it seemed to clear up all the problems.. but not even a week later i started getting symptoms again and now its happening almost everytime i go out. it will rev high at stop lights and check engine light comes on , sometimes the little wrench light will come on and the car basically shuts down.... i can maybe go 20mph. i turn the key off and on and away i go with just a check engine light coming back on but i can drive it.
im getting the following DTCs
p0600 which i think is my fault for plugging in the tuner with the key off.
p1000 which i beleive goes with p0600
p2150 concerns me the most, injector group B voltage low
u0600 which is undocumented.
why and what causes the injector group to have low voltage? ive sent a message to JDM because they are ford experts and have helped me before, and i sent a message to hypertech to see what they think.
have any of you had these codes before and what did you do to resolve the problem?
read 5twentys thread in the talk section re sct tuner tuning his car, he was told over 4 hrs of data logging to get a throttle body wrking properly in S197's..I honestly have never heard anything good about them and have read they provide NO gains for mildly modd'd cars..it's the culprit, there are tens of thousands running cold air intakes with tunes with no probs at all..post it up on ebay or kijiji and try to get some of your cash back..
i did have a problem with the TPS setting when i first put it on and i talked to a tech at BBK and i set it back to 1.20 volts which was the reading my stock TB gave me. im really thinking about polishing the stock one and putting it back on. maybe just putting it back on without touching it to make sure that was the problem... this is the first modern car ive ever owned and tuned like this. im a carburetor guy. ive made two 600cfm edelbrocks work on a mild street engine that ran mid tens but i cant seem to get the bugs out of something as simple as bolt on parts.. its pretty discouraging.
i think im going to head to my shop and put the stock one on now and go for a cruise to see if things clear up.
any more tips are greatly appreciated. thanks again ill let you know if i resolve it as well.
i checked the tps voltage today and it was bang on.
im getting frustrated haha, why do i get that low voltage code for the fuel injectors? that seems to be the problem more than anything. or at least something is causing this problem.
and its strange because the problem is intermittent , mostly when im just sitting idling, or if im just cruising in town driving slowly. if im on the gas and running the car hard it never has the problem.
well originally , i had the cai on with the stock tune, and i had the insert installed. i did the cold air and the TB before i had a tuner because the salesman for airaid told me that his kit did not require a tuner. so i didnt buy one. and after installing the cai and the tb the car ran great but did the high idle thing. although it wasnt nearly as bad. the check engine light came on but was only a code for an air idle circuit out of range or something to that nature, which was a result of the TPS being out of range. it was at 1.42 volts when i checked it and i turned it down to 1.20 volts which was what my stock TB had been.
but now that i think of it, i only bought the tuner after i started having the problem with the idle, but i adjusted the TPS after i installed the tune.. so maybe i should put it back to stock setting and install the insert to see what the car will act like with the TPS at the proper setting..
thats why i like this forum, more ideas i can get for solutions the better.
ill try that out tonight and see what i get. it takes a few minutes to do.
its the same group of codes that comes up every time the problem happens, usually 4 dtcs that i mentioned earlier. sometimes 2 extras. but most commonly the first 4 always appear as a group.
its happening way to often for my liking. im about to head out for a drive and see what happens, tomorrow im going to adjust a few things like we said. going back to stock tune and starting over. hopefully we can get this figured out
ok so i just got home from about 2 hours of cruising, and not even the slightest glitch... and i have it set on the most powerful tune. i have it set for an airaid intake w/o insert, and for premium fuel.. same as i had it set originally and the car ran beautifully all night, tons of power , pull hard through every gear and no problems with idle control or anything at all... i dont freakin get it.
i guess ill have to wait and see now how long it stays good for.

Ok this is what I learned ,you need to leave the Venturi tube in the Airaid CAI,unless your motor is heavily modded and can take all that extra air. The AIRAID`S tube is huge and with that Venturi tube out your motor is getting to much air. It is to your advatage to leave it in.Do You have a tune with the Venturi Tube insert in.This tune will be the one you need to use, performance will be much better as well.
