is it 8lbs of boost total between both turbos? or 8 on each to make 16lbs?? the stats from your 1/4 sound like it would be 16ish.. like psfracer.. but i could be totally wrong.

You betcha! I will be running in Ultra Stang. Were you out at HRP a few Sundays ago during Test/Tune? I could swear I saw your car out there when we were testing Dad's Thunderbird.

They gotta be bigger then T-67's to make that much power to get a insane 1/4mile time with just 8lbs.. or well i would think so atleast..

It's actually going to be in the $8K range due to the price of the turbos. They are Garrett GT2871-R dual ball bearing turbos. 54mm each. These are really top of the line units and the price reflects that. The best thing about them is that if you decide to turn the boost up they will support up to 900 hp without changing turbos. Just tweak the wastegates. If you've got enough engine and fuel system....they will deliver.

They key there is the RPM. That's what kills the connecting rods in a S197. You keep it below that, or even lower, and I think a lot of people will be surprised how long they last.

Exactly. RPM will kill the rods and/or pull the pins out of the piston skirts. Same thing goes for the cast vs forged crankshaft issue. I used to tell people who insisted on a Cobra crank that unless they were going over 7000 rpm regularly they just did not need the forged crank. Cast cranks are fine under that level and up to around 800 hp or so. I have never seen a broken cast crank that was kept under 7000 rpm.

We had a chat yesterday about this deal and we have decided to keep the car right at this level of performance for the rest of the season. Figure that 10.90's to 11.20's is just fine and won't stress the shortblock or transmission too badly. The sponsor believes, and I agree with him, that a high ten second daily driven car with a STOCK engine, 8 lbs of boost, and a few race wins (or hopefully a championship or two) is considerably more impressive than a mid-low ten second car with a built engine and 15 lbs of boost. They just want to show what the kit is capable of doing on a stock setup this year.

Now...next season?
