Default Installing lowering kit...

On a 2006 GT, how hard is it and what does it take to do?

You'll need basic handtools plus a spring compressor that you can borrow from Autozone. Also likely need an adjustable panhard bar and either adjustable strut mounts (camber plates) or camber bolts to permit allignment.

So you would have to adjust the camber either way...even for a 1.5" drop?

EDIT*** What do you mean...panhand bar?

9 times out of 10 you will need some negative camber and the Mustang has no adjustment for it. The adjustable panhard bar is needed because lowering has a tendency to throw the rear axle off center. The adjustable bar pulls it back to center.

Not the sway bar. The panhard bar locates the rear axle side to side in the chassis. When you lower, it pushes to one side. The adjustable bar replaces the stock bar and allows you to pull the axle back to center.

Here's the adjustable bar I use...
Steeda Adjustable Panhard Bar and Bar Brace - '05-'08 Ford Mustang
And these are the strut mounts.

I ordered the BMR camber bolts. I just lowered my car with the ford racing coils. was very easy. took 15min for the rear and 45 min for the front. Couldnt believe how easy it was. Way easier than my marauder.

The camber bolts are definitely the least expensive way to adjust camber. Other method requires using a grinding tool to enlarge the strut-to-wheel spindle lower mounting holes.

Good price for an adjustable bar. And chromoly steel is better than mild steel.

BMR rocks. Just make sure you don't get the spherical rod ends.

+1... I suppose they'd be fine on a track-only rattle can but too noisy for something you have to drive to work too.

I did a write up on how to replace the front springs without the use of a spring compressor. Contrary to what you (and many others) think it can be done very safely without a spring compressor. A buddy of mine tried it last weekend and told me he was able to get the fronts swapped in less than an hour.
