Default Question about Hurst Short Throw Shifter.

has anyone had any problems with your hurst short throw shifter in a 05-07 mustang? I have one in my 07 GT and the two bolts that connect the actual shifter to the linkages under the shifting boot keep coming loose. it has no effect on shifting it just gives me a little play in the shifter. Its happened twice and the second time i replaced the star washers with lock washers to see if that would help. Not a big problem just curious to see if others have had this problem too.

A little bit of Blue locktite will cure that problem!

Mark don't you think red might be a little extreme! I mean if you ever need to remove it for some reason you might have to heat it up to break it loose ... just my opionion!

I suppose blue would work. I guess I figured it never would need to come off.

I've never really had an issue removing stuff with red locker on it. Maybe it's because I don't use enough..

I had that problem ...still. I used the blue first & it eventually lossened repeatedly last year, then the red, but, I didn't clean off the threads. This year , I tightened it once so far. I will clean them properly if I can & hit it hard.

I used red on mine and had to break the bolts loose when I was messing with it again...no problem and I used a lot of it. We use the red loctite on our bigger bolts on our forklifts at work since we can't have them vibrating loose and the maintenance guy is always breaking them back out to work on the machines. It's just a type of glue to gum up the threads anyway, it's not solder or a weld. Don't fear the full strength stuff.
