I'm going to install a Steeda UCA this weekend and the instructions say to use the forward shaft of a two piece stock shaft (picture shows them taking a angle reading on the shaft next to the tranny tailshaft) for your angle reading to compare to the pinion angle. Does this sound correct? I always thought you would use the the shaft closest to the diff. How are the rest of you all going about setting this angle?
Take a look at this if you want to see a video of how to set an S197 pinion angle:
Had the Che upper mount and Steeda adjustable control arm put in. All quite when I left and about 2 miles later a noise came up. I had the back seat out and it sounded like a creaking or rusty shock sound. It then went away for for about 2 miles and then returned a little bit.
Any thoughts? I'll drive it around some before the storm hits.

There will be a bit more noise because of the design of the control arms. You may want to ensure that the bushings were greased though.

I called the shop that installed it to let them know. They'll put it back up on the lift and take a look. I supplied them w/ all new fasteners … even the gas tank bolts.
I didn't want an adjustable arm, but the fixed is for lowered rides only.

That's good that they will fix it for you.
Most get the adjustable upper so that they can adjust the pinion angle after lowering. Adjustable LCA's will do the same thing.

Do you know what the pinion angle is set at? I would drive it for awile and let the suspension settle. It migh go away if he greased the UCA with a good synthetic grease like Mobile 1.The pinion angle is not likely the issue, just wondering where it was set?

I believe the Steeda UCA was measured to the same length as the stock one.
Today I worry about the boat and the storm … not the car

I'll ask them if they greased it good. I went to hockey tonight and it was quite for 2 miles then started to squeak some. I went on the highway after and romped it good. I didn't hear any squeak or groan after that going slow. I pulled in the garage and it made some noise when I got out of the car I stood on the rocker panel and put my weight on it. I can duplicate the noise. It sounds like a shock or spring. WTF … LOL I hate doing $hit to your car that cause problems.

So what is the pinion angle set at? Using some Mobile 1 synthetic grease would be good on all the bushings.
