Went to the track tonight last night for friday night fun. Clutch held up which is good being that it has about 550 miles on it. It was smelly but it held up. I still think the best solution is to go with the Ram hydraulic unit if you are going to run at the strip. For around town stuff the stock is fine, but if you hammer at the strip drop a few extra $$ and get the good stuff.

Still not getting down the track like I would like to but it is only about my 9th pass so I am still learning.

Good luck ladies and gents. Drive it like you stole it.

Glad to hear it! Let me know how your battle with SPEC goes.

Thursday night my BRAND NEW SPEC 2+ fell apart after 6 passes. What a POS!

First one out of the box had a crack in the pressure plate. They claimed it was a scratch, then they said UPS did it!

So I had another in stock and installed it. Their flywheel, etc. New slave. Did the 500 mile B/I and went to the track.

6 #)*)%@_ Passes! No more go Crap falling out of the bell

Found a site that is dedicated to piics and stories of failed SPEC stuff and the lack of follow up. 10% failure rate? 100% for me.

So I bought the ZOOM twin disc also. Went to the BIGGEST BEST Tremec dealer in the world. Spent some time with them, set a deal between Zoom , them and myself. More I less I am going to do some R&D.

So, after only 7 days, out with the SPEC. The place I speak of is currently testing the updated slave in a GT500 with great results. Now they are working on making it better. I am torn on ordering one right now. Running out of time for World Finals.

They did tell me that if you go to a Factor 2 twin disc with a 10 spline 3650 trans and drag radials running 1.6 60ft times you will SNAP the input shaft.

The factor 1 is better for our use with the 10 spline becaise it is a "controlled" slip and doesn't bite as hard as the 2. Also better for city driving.

Needless to say, I no longer deal in SPEC. Don't know how I am going to handle this. Just received my full color brocure too with my product lines

Lastly, driveshaft. The Tremec guys told me that something bad will happen now with the stock 2pc. They guarntee it. And since I am driving to Bowling Green, KY from Detroit...I guess it's time for a trip to Dynotech for a shaft this week. It was recommend to me to stay away from the others that have you change the pinion. For one, it's not wise to change rear end yokes without a new cruch sleeve. That I know, but the main part of the shaft was from ma Ranger P/U

FWIW, Powerhouse, CHE and BBR I know sell the Dynotech shafts.

I went factor one, and thanks for the info on the shaft. I have been mulling that over for a while now. My car is mostly a driver and will see the track occasionally, but I certainly don't want any premature failures of the 2 pc set up.

I'm going to wait on an aftermarket slave unit. I figure in a month my car is getting stored for winter. I am sure some other companies will probably come up with some other units. I would like to see a comparison of what is currently available and the stock unit. I did read the article in on mag about the ram set up now I would like to read about the other unit.

Got a brand spanking new spec 2 plus and fly wheel back from SPEC after I sent my unit in under a warranty deal. I was suprised to say the least but glad they did it. I have a RAM slave unit in the garage ready to go on this week. Not driving the car until it goes in. I am hoping the stock POS slave did not screw up my Zoom dual disc and aluminum flywheel. SPEC unit going on ebay.

SPEC did okay by me also. I am not going to disclose all the details because of the professional and business aspect.

In my heart and gut, I know my stuff was right. I think the instant torque of my blower was just hard on it, even though I followed proper break in and had not even tried a real launch.

But I am pleased, and will still offer them up, in addition to Zoom. But I will NOT recommend a 2+ for anything modded.

I am sincerely pleased with how SPEC spoke to me, and explained things. Professional courtesy I hope. But they earned a lot of respect from me today.

1100 miles and some hard passes on the Factor 1 this past weekend. Going great!

Thats great! I never heard from them, so I finally emailed the contact and he told me that they sent my unit back. Did not know it was a replacement until I unpacked which was a very nice suprise.
