Warning do not run octane booster in your 3 valve motor
Well to let everyone know i have an 07 gt with all the ford racing goodies the last peice of my puzzle the supercharger is sitting on garage work bench be put in this weekend! well to get to the dirt my 07 has 3500 miles on it and ive always ran premium with octane booster you know thinking back to old days more octane better! my car has all the mods for running it thought there would be no problem. well last week i had a dodge pull up and he wanted some so i slammed here in second and it made the worst popping hesitating missing sound and all power was lacking. so im pi@#$d i get on the phone with for racing. the tell me to check cold air intake for a leak i didnt tell him about running octane booster yet. so i checked it out no leaks. put it back on ran it still had problems! so now im really trying to get more than a 10second phone call from ford racing so i explain everything i do with this car and all of the sudden he says oh no i know your problem he says you know the gt350H hertz addition i said yes. he said hertz couldnt get 93 octane only 85 octane so they added octane booster to all of their cars and they had the same problem he says change your plugs problem will go away so i got my jegs catalog out and since im putting on supercharger i got the HT0 plug from autolite darn good plug really expensive for a plug though 14.99 each so all in all if you got a problem where you hammer it and no codes are thrown change out your plus to the HT1 autolite should go away and dont run octane booster try just running shell premium thats what they recommend!
After reading this, I'm concerned. I have run octane booster before, I haven't had problems yet that I know of. I will not use it again after reading this. However what about STP's fuel treatments and fuel injection cleaners, are they safe on the 3 valve motor. I'm in the military and would like to know what to put in the tank while I'm deployed for extended times. I've got orders to Fort Lewis, WA and believe that I will be deployed to Iraq agian for probably another year.
So what about gas treatments and injection cleaners.
a big waste of $$, almost all the major oil companys today use additives in the fuel to keep the system clean and fee of moisture, 2nd FoMoCo has been using deposit resistant fuel injectors since 1992 and octane boosters are also a waste of $$...you ONLY need enuff octane to stop detonation, any more octane above what you need to stop detonation actuall kills performance.....
well this is just my two cents for leaving your car for a while put stabile in your tank it keeps it from forming acids. run your car for a few miles to get it up to your injectors. then if its gonna be for a good while i would pull the plugs and spray a liberal amount of WD-40 in the cylinder. then put the plug back in this keeps the cylinder from developing any rust and to help prevent rings from seizing on cylinder wall. then of course place the car on jack stands to keep from flat spots. and then disconnect battery and put a battery tender on it to keep it from going bad. like i said my two cents only! ill keep you all updated on install and get some pics on here!
I never use gas additives in my cars or motorcycles. When it’s time to store them I fill them up to the top with premium and put them away. When I get them out in the spring I drain the tanks completely fill them with premium and go for a drive. I have been doing this for 15 years and have never, ever had any problems at all.
The reason I fill the tanks is to keep the insides from getting surface rust.

So what about gas treatments and injection cleaners.
Seafoam is good for getting rid of carbon build up. It eliminated a high rpm pinging problem on my 05 S197 GT. I initially tried using different brands of gas, pulled timing, and richened the A/F ratio to get rid of the pinging, all without success. Dumped a $7 can of Seafoam into the tank, and 200 miles later the pinging was gone.

This is wise advise for storing a vehicle. No Rust no fuss.

Is the GT350H Hertz edition similar to a Shelby GT-H, like what I have?
"Off the shelf" octane booster is crap! Very misleading in the advertising...when they refer to raising octane points, it's actually "tenths" of a point. Go to Home Depot and buy a gallon can of Xylene. It's about ten bucks, in the paint dept.
Xylene
R+M/2...117
Cost...$2.75/gal
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10%...94.5 Octane
20%...97.0 Octane
30%...99.5 Octane
Notes: Similar to Toulene. 12-16 ounces will only raise octane 2-3 *points*, I.e. from 92 to 92.3. Usually mixed with Toulene and advertised as *race formula*.
I run 22 psi./boost in my 944 turbo in 112 degree temperatures. No Problem!

Personally I don't put any "additives" into my Stang with the exception of water wetter. Anything else I'm looking for trouble. And water wetter is a one shot deal.....I remember the "olden days" when STP was the biggy for oil.

That's interesting. I've heard about this but was never tempted to try it.
