I had Stingers and almost liked them as much as sex. Couldn't stand the drone though. I didn't have just the 1900 rpm drone - anything from idle to about 2100 rpm drove me nuts.
Later I got a Bassani catted-X and oh man that really woke up the Stingers. Incredible sounds. Drone wasn't any better though.
Now I have GTA's and they're just "ok" in my opinion.
I'm putting on Bassani headers around Christmas time. If I'm still wanting more from my mufflers after that I may try Bassani street mufflers (not their race mufflers). I've been forewarned for drone, but I don't see how they could be nearly as bad as the stingers were.
Also hear that Flowmaster American Thunders sound nice and deep with no drone. Might try those out too.
Would be nice if there was a try-before-you-buy process.
Well....I can join this club. One of the hangers that was welded to the rim of the muffler broke off. The weld failed. I heard a rattle from the rear and took it into the performance shop and he put it up on the lift and we saw it.
He ordered my GTAs right from FRRP. They said they will replace the mufflers for no charge so that's what I am going to have done. Although I might wait until spring to have them installed since my Mustang is about to go into storage soon anyway.
How can a weld fail like that ? I assume shoddy workmanship....

That sux. I wasn't all that worked up when the first hanger broke loose. A little more annoyed when the second hanger broke free. The 2 passenger hangers braking loose on the same day was the straw that broke this camel's back. Fingers crossed your GTA's first broken hanger is it's last...
I don't know if shoddy workmanship or just a bad design. If you look at the hangers on the stock mufflers they have a piece that is welded to the front surface of the mufflers as well as the "lip" of the muffler. On my GTA's the steel actually tore away at the weld.

(As of this morning anyway) They have a little bit of drone at ~2000 rpm if I'm going up hill. On a level highway or a down grade they're pretty quite. If it wasn't for that slight drone on up grades they'd be perfect. I guess I'll have to avoid going up hill...

I don't know about the +05 Mustang but I had flows on my '86 (2-chamber, I don't know how they'd compare to American Thunders). They sounded awesome but the drone was off the charts. Drove me insane. I swore off flowmasters after those.

Probably is bad design then. I thought about just having it welded back on since there is a welding shop right next to the performance shop I go to, but since FRPP said they would replace both mufflers for no charge I had to go that direction. I never turn down anything that's free ! Well almost anything....lol
