if bending the tab with the jack is a problem why can't you grind it flush with the carrier. Thats what we do in the 4x4 world so rocks wont hit the cover and leak on the trail. never had problems with grinding on the truck covers.
I've jacked mine a dozen times and always use the pumpkin to lift the car. No leaks or any problems. The front is tricky. I have to drive up on my ramps to get the car up high enough to slide the jack under the cross member. I haven't quite figured out how to jack up just one front side yet. I tried just south of the control arm on that black metal frame bar but heard a crack after 2 pumps so didn't go any further. I didn't see any damage and went to the track last night so not sure what that was.

I have a low profile Blackjack that works great on the front--even lowered.
I would never use the pumpkin as a jack point on these cars.
Why not? I've had mine up that way a couple hundred times so far (and no, I'm not exaggerating).

Use the frame rail underneath the side of the car. The best point is behind the front wheels, and directly below the door hinges. The frame rail is about a foot back under the car. Just be careful on the drivers side that you are on the frame rail, and not the plastic housing over the fuel lines. It's easy to see the frame rail on the passenger side.
Its so simple, my wife can do it.

I've never had it slip on me. But then again, I center the bottom of the housing right in the middle of my jack, so I wouldn't expect it to slip.

I take it she doesn't read these forums or you are a brave man. I can't get my jack far enough up under there to reach the frame rail(which is pretty far under there if you look at that diagram) on account of it being lowered. If you are talking about that little slit just under the door hinges, I'm scared it will bend. That metal is not very wide.
I'll take a look at that black jack. It's important to me to carry a jack in the trunk in case of a blow out. I carry a small 2x6 to drive the car up on if I have a blowout and I need to be prepared. I have a low profile jack already but perhaps it's just not low enough. This is the one I have(Torin Big Red Aluminum Race Jack). :
I use the actual frame rail, which is about a foot back under the car. I can see how that could be a problem with a lowered car.
