Question 2006 Mustang GT alternator problems

Anyone have alternator problems in their newest generation mustang? Im on my third alternator in my 06 GT, the reason is my after-market subwoofers (JL Audio 1000/1 amp), but i would think a capacitor would help. Should I get an extra battery dedicated to the speakers, or should i get a better alternator, or what? I can't rebuild my alternator every 10,000 miles so help would be greatly appreciated.

the you need the HO alternator 200amp which is basicly the same alternator but with more coper threds and smaller pulley on it=spins faster i got mine from here PA Performance 05-07 Mustang 200 AMP Alternator [2158HO-S197] - $335.04 : Performance Parts - Ford Mustang - Cobra - Dodge Viper - Chevy Corvette - C6 - LS1

and i also added a POWER ACOUSTIK CAPCELL-800 (CAPCELL800) <br>800-AMP 16-DVC Digital CAPACITOR capcel kinda like a battery but more sustained acid inside of them i have 3 12" pioneer premier 3000W(1000rms) with 2 3 alpine mdx 1000S a 4x100 panasonic for the speekers and tweeters and 600w alpine mdx 600 for the door buffers (kickers) all that is with 0 gauge wires and upgraded the big 3 the car pounds so hard and clear (you can hear from the next block, when i'm on the next block)lol and even if i,m sitting on the light and the music is blasting no dimming,no rpm needle mooving just works fine hopa that helps you

Cool

This is great information, I just started to have problems with my 06 GT and now I'm at a stand still on my baby. Thank you for the help.

i had problesm on my 06' v6 last year too. car just died going down the road, it was under warrant so i reflashed back to stock and took it to the dealer. didnt pay a dime and they filled my tank up with gas cuz they had to take it out to test it. pretty cool besides i had to run that 87 through the car before i could re tune. STLwagon has an aftermarket alternator b/c i think he had the same problem happen, far as i know hes still running strong.

I still have an OEM alternator. My car pulls a consistent 86 amps with everything on so I didn't see a need to go beyond the 130 amp alternator.

yes i have torn throught my stock alternator, thats actually why im searching on here. i have about 2800 watts of bench tested rockford power and a couple of boston g-5's. i was told to do a PA Performance 200 amp alternator with a second optima battery. then i was told to use a kenetic power cell for the second battery. so basically im in the process of installing this now. i ordered the alt and (make sure to get the upgraded gauge wire with alt) i allready have the kenetic cell. if any one has any info please inform me but this was all told to me by PA performance. also dont get some generic 250amp alt on ebay. waste spend the 350 for the pa.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the PA. Just that some have had issues because the OEM uses a stepping regulator.

I went with one from an Expedition/F250-350 unit. They are a 200 amp unit and the only mod you have to do is take the 3 housing bolts out and turn the back side of alternator to change the clocking position of the electrical connector. Actually you don't even have to do that but it lets the wire harness stay in the OEM position.

The only down side to installing a high output unit is the message center will display "check charging system" all the time.
