Question Temperature gauge failed/stuck

I searched a bit and it doesn't look like many have exeperienced any real problems with the temp gauge. I am pretty sure mine has failed and not the sensor itself as the Engine Coolant Temp is being reported (assuming accurately) as read on my Predator HH.

In less than 5mins after starting up, the temp was around 100 and increasing gradually.

Any further troubleshooting steps you all could recommend before I remove the instrument panel in search of a mechanical problem??

Thanks in advance.

Likely the sending unit and not the gauge.

If the temp gauge is pegged hot then most likely a wire going to the sending unit is pinched and grounded........or like stlwagon said ...the sending unit is faulty....

Does the temp sensor feed into the sending unit providing the signal for the gauge? Or is the sensor and sending unit one and the same?
