did you just put it in drive or did you shift it yourself?
I did not shift it myself, I just left it in drive and launched at 1500 RPM, that combo worked great the previous run and I was able to coax a 14.3@95.5 out of the car.

It might have been axle hop too, but would that induce the non-shift too, or was that perhaps the TCS trying to but in? It's strange only because the car drove home fine, no erratic performance nor noise, that and there were other S197's being launched harder that day also!

I'm hoping that nothings the matter beacause I'd really rather not open up a credit card to take care of this, BUT if that is what's going to happen, screw it, Hi-Po parts will be going on, I'll turn lemons into leomonaide.

I dont think you hurt anything...shoot..you should have made another pass! I would have drove around the pit area and if it shifted fine....get back in line

Wait, did you have the TCS on during your runs?

No, it was shut off. On some cars (like Toyotas for example) it'll come on in emergency situations, not sure about my Mustang though.

MickMach- at the time, I really thought the trans blew. If it weren't my daily driver I might have tried it because it went back to normal, but seeing how this is my only functional car(I've got an '88 Maxima that needs work and a '72 Corvette that I'll tackle in the future, it needs a motor) I decided to not to risk it. Still, I'm very pleased with the Mustang's 2nd pass.

I just got my car back from Ford and she's all right. They checked her out and nothing was amiss, so I dodged a bullet there, plus they didn't charge me a diagnosis fee, which is pretty cool too. I'm just glad it wasn't as bad as it could be.

Wow dude, I never saw anyone get so uptight over a little wheelhop. These cars can shudder when they get wheel hop at launch.

To the OP. It does sound like wheel hope. I had something like you when I went to the track the first time. I have a 5 speed.

As for your time of 14.3 at 95.5 for a 1/4 mile. WOW okay. There must be a BIG difference between 5 speed and Auto. I down to 13.6 @106 mph. I do have 3:73 gears, and a BBK CAI plus custom tune. But before the gears and tune I was at 14.6. A CAI without a tune running 93 octane HURTS your 1/4 time and speed. Also you can blow the engine. HAHA
