I picked up the Feb 09 5.0 Mustang issue.. it has the new Saleen Super Shaker...."Dark Horse" and from what I can tell it has the 39's in it. are all 39's blue? this car makes 620hp...still on 39's...looks like it.

also...I picked a SCT BA2800 for a good price...I put it on but my car doesnt like it. So I will need a tune for it. the BA2800 may be more than I need? its the same size housing...90mm.

Someone help me remember. Does the plastic Saleen idler that everyone hates on replace a larger stock, metal idler?

And if so, why is that done. I bought my car with all my mods on it already, except the Meziere w/p. So I wasn't involved with all of that work that went on with the s/c install.

I thought JDM recommend sticking with the OEM idler?

That may be, but according to the dude I bought my car from, the s/c install was done by Powerhouse Motorsports. JDM only supplied the parts and the tunes. Actually the seller gave me all of his receipts too.

Am I correct to think the OEM idler is larger than the Saleen idler?

If I can get away with swapping that idler when I move to a 3.2 pulley then that would save me a bundle compared with buying a complete 8 rib kit.

I thought they were the same size but I could be wrong. Maybe a call to JDM is in order?

yes sir..the OEM idler pulley is larger. I did my own install and put the Saleen plastic idler on as directed.
I think the smaller idler is needed(so Saleen says) for a little more clearance around the Saleen supplied alternator bracket. some say to grind off a little of the Alt bracket...I didnt! needs all the strength in that area! so yeah I put my OEM back on just the other week but havent driven it due to the bad weather this weekend looks good and Im hoping to see 9psi and no belt screech.
