Interesting info, thanks for posting it.

The hardest part about choosing performance mods for these cars is that every mod affects every other mod. You can't put a CAI, delete plates, and headers on and expect the net gain to equal the sum of what each one would give individually.

Furthermore, some components, like heads or cams, don't give you their full potential until combined with other performance equipment.

By showing the performance gains with a supercharger, you are actually showing what the combinations would be. Adding heads without boost would give minimal gains, as would cams, but when coupled with something that benefits from the higher flow these mods bring, their potential really shows. (cams made for NA engines would probably show lower potential with FI)

It is interesting to note that Kenne Bell states quite clearly that in their own tests, headers and exhaust show absolutely no gains whatsoever on the lower boost applications (ie below 10 psi). It is only after you push past the potential of the stock components where you see anything at all. On the other hand, if you combined a higher flowing, more efficient head with a good long tube header, you would be more likely to see gains at the lower boost levels.

FI still remains the best bang for the buck, once you get past the most basic of bolt on mods. The only mod I can think of that gives better HP/$$ ratio would be going from stock to a CAI with a 93 octane tune. (perhaps cams or long tubes IF you do your own install).

One more note to consider if using the info posted here for a dollar comparison is that you have to consider the cost of a built engine when going over 9 psi boost. It is almost universally accepted that our engines will start to fail above 9 psi boost unless the bottom end is rebuilt with forged internals. I see a lot of HP/$$ comparisons at 14 psi that do not take into consideration the extra $$ involved.

Anyone can get 1000 hp out of these engines, its just a matter of for how long..
