Default Delete plates- did you use a Torque wrench when installing?

The trigger has been pulled for the Billet Steeda delete plates, Most recomended going with the Econo versions in a previous thread i started but in the final moment i ordered the Billet model, after all it does have 0.070 larger ports, hahaha.

Anyway, I read in the instructions that when bolting the intake plenum back down ,you need to use a torque wrench and tighten the bolts in a pattern to a specified ft/lb setting.

Did you guys do this when you installed? Do you think it is necessary? Should i go out and buy a torque wrench? or just bolt it down.

I should be rolling up my sleeves sometime next week.

Thanks

Absolutely! Torque to approx 7.5 lb-ft and there is a specific sequence. I'll find it for you.

Since you are an admin, is it possible you can add a "Q" to the word Torue in the title, so when guys like myself are searching for a same answer they will find this thread.

Thats an absolute must on these cars. Ford uses some small bolts and screws and if not torqued to specs. you will brake them or pull the threads out.

Any of the click type from like Sears, SnapOn, MAC. Just make sure its a good one. You don't have to spend hundreds but don't get a cheep one because they are not calibrated. In fact I need to send mine out for calibration.

What he said. You might find a deal on a set that measures both foot/pounds and inch/pounds. For some reason, I prefer "Stanley" tools.

Mine are all SnapOn because of a good deal I had received years ago. Although I do like the new electronic ones. I don't use them like I used to so I can't justify the higher expense.

Man, a decent "Click" style torque wrench is more pricey than i thought. Seems like everything is $130 +

Im also having trouble finding many that go down to 7 lbs.

Is there a name for lighter duty Torque wrenches?
