Default Lost in the oil weight

I have looked for a few days trying to find this topic or something similar and none of them seem to have any feedback. I was curious what the different oil weights mean and which oil would be best for a stock '07 GT. I'm not exactly new to the car world but 6 months in the desert has weakened my knowledge.

thanks for any and all feedback.

Synthetic or synthetic blends are the best due to less wear and sludging in the engine.
If you ask someone which brand, you may as well ask what brand of toothpaste they prefer.
What is printed on the cap and in the manual is what you should use.

The only oil worth using ROYAL PURPAL 5W20.

If you choose a full snthetic like royal purple your going to be spending a lot more per oil change anyways might as well use the best.

ford charges like $50-60 for full sythetic oil chage I spend $50 on royal purple and do it myself

I have read a lot of threads on filters and almost everyone says to avoid Fram cause i guess they break apart or something. ill probably go with that kit, seeing how im in the uk and cant make a quick run to auto zone or something of the like.

Fram had some serious quality issues a few years back. Whether they have corrected the situation is unknown, but it scared off a lot of folks, including me. I use Purolator PureOne filters, and nowdays I am using 0W-20 Mobil 1 synthetic. Gas mileage went up a little, and it's the same price as the 5W-20. I have noticed no problems with using this oil, and it meets all of Ford's requirements.

i run fram on 2 dodges my stang and a jeep.

never had a problem

although on my stang the o ring likes to stick to the filter hook up. but since i always clean it anyways its not a biggie to me

never had a problem

in doubt go to ford and get their filter

ive herd good reviews about a K&N oil filter... but at $10 a pop , no thanks

i change my oil every 2000 miles

I use Amsoil 0w20 and Amsoil filters. It's the best you can buy on this planet.

You couldn't pay me to run a Fram filter. I had one come apart on me before. Stick with Motorcraft.

I only run filters by Champion Labs (mostly sold under other brands, like STP) or Purolator (which happens to make Motorcraft filters) on any of my vehicles.

As far as what weight, 5w20 is the factory fill, and it's what's best for it. What kind of oil you run is up to you, I personally run Castrol Syntec, Mobil 1, or Valvoline SynPower in my daily driver (based on which one is on sale when my oil change comes due, they're all great oils).

Reaper- I agree. Where do you buy your Amsoil, how much do you pay per quart, and how often do you change your oil? I live in the boonies, so I'd rather get it shipped to me. Does UPS and FedEx ship petroleum products?

BTW, doesn't Wix make Amsoil filters?
