I have looked for a few days trying to find this topic or something similar and none of them seem to have any feedback. I was curious what the different oil weights mean and which oil would be best for a stock '07 GT. I'm not exactly new to the car world but 6 months in the desert has weakened my knowledge.
Synthetic or synthetic blends are the best due to less wear and sludging in the engine.
If you ask someone which brand, you may as well ask what brand of toothpaste they prefer.
What is printed on the cap and in the manual is what you should use. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question164.htm

I have read a lot of threads on filters and almost everyone says to avoid Fram cause i guess they break apart or something. ill probably go with that kit, seeing how im in the uk and cant make a quick run to auto zone or something of the like.

Fram had some serious quality issues a few years back. Whether they have corrected the situation is unknown, but it scared off a lot of folks, including me. I use Purolator PureOne filters, and nowdays I am using 0W-20 Mobil 1 synthetic. Gas mileage went up a little, and it's the same price as the 5W-20. I have noticed no problems with using this oil, and it meets all of Ford's requirements.
I'll probably be getting the setup i linked in a previous reply.. and now i have to order a new tire! way to go screw! to close to the side wall, what a waste of a fairly new tire
I only run filters by Champion Labs (mostly sold under other brands, like STP) or Purolator (which happens to make Motorcraft filters) on any of my vehicles.
As far as what weight, 5w20 is the factory fill, and it's what's best for it. What kind of oil you run is up to you, I personally run Castrol Syntec, Mobil 1, or Valvoline SynPower in my daily driver (based on which one is on sale when my oil change comes due, they're all great oils).

I use Amsoil 0w20 and Amsoil filters. It's the best you can buy on this planet.
Reaper- I agree. Where do you buy your Amsoil, how much do you pay per quart, and how often do you change your oil? I live in the boonies, so I'd rather get it shipped to me. Does UPS and FedEx ship petroleum products?
