STL wagon - I jacked up the car this weekend and inspected the bushings and removed the sway bar, spring and shock so that I could wiggle the LCA and no squeak. The bushings look good and applied some grease to the busing above the rear axle. Once I did this I jumped on the freeway and the skueak is still there, annoying. I am at my wit's end. I also looked at the brace that holds the parking brake cable and nothing there.

06roadstarman - I also thought the wire hangers in the isolators were moving enough in the rubber gromets to cause a squeak so I lubed them up also and it didn't do anything.

I had read a thread here before about greasing/lubing the brake caliper.....how is this done, any help is much appreciated. I may give up and take it to the dealership and maybe then can find it.

I don't think it can be replaced but it certainly would be worth a call to Steeda.

I'm at a loss. Does it make the sound at all speeds, or just slow over bumps?

This is the reply from Steeda:We have all the bushings for the lower control arms but unless they where over greased I do not think that is your problem, they usually do not fail this quickly unless you have allot of HP and really abuse them, also I would think the passengers side would break first. I would put the car up in the air and see if I could pin point what is moving. Let me know if you need the bushings they are about $25. for each side including the sleeves.

I wonder how hard it is to replace the inside bushings? With the artic temps coming soon … it doesn't matta right now

-stlwagon, the noise comes from when the car rides over bumps in an up and down motion at low speeds and when cruising on the highway between 50 - 75 mph.

I spoke to a Ford Tech yesterday and he stated that he sees this problem frequently at his shop. He told me to buy some silicone spray and spray the hell out of the brake cable and bracket that holds it in place, as it may be rubbing on the frame somewhere. I'll probably get to this sometime this week and post later with results. Thanks much for the help!!

Good to know that they can replaced. FYI, I split a bushing when I was at ~320 rwhp. Granted it was on a BMR LCA..

Doublecheck your clearances on the exhaust overaxle pipe. Sometimes they get too close to either the spare tire well, panhard brace, or differential housing.

I had the same issue and found that if I lubed the lower shock mounts (were they bolt to the axle) with WD-40 or a light grease the squeak went away for a couple of months.
