I have a 07 Gt 5- speed I have had my cool intake installed now for about a year now. one of my good friends who is also a mechanic asked me if after i had the cool intake installed did i reset it.
I asked him what the hell are you talking about. He told me after it was installed to disconnect the positive red cable ( while the ground cable is still on) and leave it off for about
15 to 20 minutes, then take the positive cable and touch it directly onto the ground cable for about 20 seconds. Then go ahead and put the positive cable back on. He told me that the first time you start the car it wont do anything, but the second time you start the car it will start the normal way. So i did all of that stuff he had told me to do.
And i did notice a big difference. I even helped my buddy do it on his Dodge ram, it worked as well.
Has anyone ever heard of this before? I know it worked for me and my friend..
Is it a Granetelli CAI or another brand without a flash tuner?
I think the Granetelli uses it's own MAF sensor instead of flashing the PCM. Disconnecting the battery forces the PCM to reboot, probably to recognize the new sensor. Other than that, I have no clue.

All i have is a K & N cool intake and i haven't had a tune before.
I was told by touching the cables together it resets the computer
and yea its supposed to recognize the new sensor. I don't know much about working on cars, just the small things but I will tell you that it did make a difference.
Just disconnecting the power resets the adaptive learning on the computer. No need to touch the cables together.
Maybe thats what did it, I'm not sure. But i had it installed for about two months and i did notice a little difference, but after touching the two wires together i really felt it.
I'm not telling anyone to try this, and if anyone does, its at their own risk. i put alot of miles on my car and i have been driving it for about 10 to 15 thousand miles after doing it and nothing bad has happened to anything.
Well consier yourself lucky. You could have caused an explosion at your battery at worst or fried electrical circuits at best.
You never touch the pos and neg cables together, and most certainly not when the positive is attached to the battery.
It is common practice to loosen the NEGATIVE cable rather than the positive cable for safety.
Removing the cable from the battery removes power from the PCM which will allow it to reset adaptive settings.
Touching the cables together was not necessary and was bad advise.
