Default Bad weather issues

So, I live in Ohio, and my 2007 mustang gt is my primary means of transportation. And with it being winter and all, I have had to drive in in some pretty bad weather, and recently I have noticed that sometimes the car when crusing on freeway will make a short but violent jerk, and then the Service light will come on. If I turn the car off, it resets the code. I notice it does this usually when the car has had a chance to warm up (after 20 minutes or a half hour of good driving) Now I guess my question is, that is the jerk related to the traction control? or could that be a symptom of my clutch going out? (its a 5 speed with 37000 miles) Or is it simply that my car was not ment to be driven in the snow? Any insight any of you may have would be great. Thanks!

If you had traction control on,that could possibly be what happened.Did it feel like it came from the rearend?

yeah, I am almost positive it came from the rear end. It made one fairly loud clack noise.

Is it under warranty still? I'd have the dealer take a peek at it.

The CEL coming on makes me think it's something more than traction control. Do you recall hitting icy patches when it does that or is it just out of the blue?

Agree, you should not be getting a CEL, you should be getting the wavy slippery indicator light if you start to slide.
What trans do you have? Any mods with a tune?
Snow tires will definatley help with some weight in the trunk. But it sounds like you have another problem.

Sounds like it's going into failsafe mode.

I took it to the dealer and they hooked up their computer and said that no engine codes had been recorded. I have a manual tranny. Lately ithas warmed up a bit and I have not noticed it again. But when it did happen, it seemed out of the blue. Maybe it was ice build up under the car?

The car should be pretty good in snow. The big problem are those wide tires. If you could get a set of mounted skinny tires, you should be OK. Of course it wouldn't look too cool.
