Default Do I have a bad transmission? 2005 Mustang GT

I have a 2005 Mustang GT with a automatic transmission and for about 6+ months now, it seems to hesitate shifting into first or reverse. When I first press the gas it revs more than usual and then kicks into gear kind of hard. And it seems to do it randomly. Is it my imagination, but I dont remember this happening before. I have had it for 4 years and had the trans fluid changed about a year ago.

No it's not suppose to do that. Does it do it when its cold or hot or both? You should have it looked at. I wouldn't have waited 6+mon. to have checked it.

+1... They do a lot of weird things but that's not normal.

How often should you change the trans fluid or service it? By mileage or years?

I know I should have it checked. I think its when it's mostly cold. I honestly havent driven it much in those 6 months. I dont like driving it in the Ohio winter.

Something like that could be caused by low fluid level. Ever notice any leaks?

Never any leaks. Could the dealership not have put enough in when I had it changed?

And from what I understand, no way to check it myself, right?

Anything is possible. Unfortunately the only way to check the level is from the underside as there is no transmission dipstick on the S197 (the system is sealed).

What have you done to the car? Any aftermarket parts? I'm guessing you have at least done a CAI and tune... Which probably won't go over well with the guys at Ford. Of course, I could be wrong...

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Could be low fluid- take it to ford, or a reputable tranny shop ( NOT AAMCO, LEE MYLES, ETC)...
better to do it now, than let it go and tear **** up inside the unit. These are pretty common units- used in Jag's, Aston MArtins, and others... Most tranny shops should be familiar with them already.
