Default turbo bypass from headers

Ok here´s the deal.
I have the Livernois 298 stroker block, Hellion 62mm turbo kit plus Brenspeed turbo tune.
Now after installing the rebuilt motor, new oil pump, and rebuilding the turbo (with the Turbonetics rebuild pack) I´m still getting heavy oil smoke from the exhaust after runs at WOT when I let off the throttle. It does not smoke unless I pull hard and let the turbo spin.
What me and my mechanic want to do is try to bypass the turbo system by removing the exhaust from the headers (make some serious nois) so the turbo wont get any air or oil. Then take a short run at WOT and see if it still smokes.
The reason we want to try this is so we can be absolutely sure the turbo is causing the smoke but not things like valve seals or cylinder rings, and I don´t want to start shredding the motor to pieces unless I know for sure that it´s motor related.
Would this be dangerous for the motor with the exhaust bypassed on my current tune? Are there any things I should take in to consideration ?

I would have to imagine that your engine would run very very rich, since you won't be pushing nearly as much air in there but the tune will still be pushing in just as much fuel. I think that would be a bad idea...

Actually, now that I think of it, your fuel injection should be more directly related to your MAF sensor readings. My gut still tells me that it would be a bad idea though. After all, it's dangerous to run a turbo setup with a stock tune, I'm guessing the reverse is true for similar reasons.

It would definitely need to be retuned first or it would run pig rich.

i have lived my life with turbos,,,seems like something is wrong with the turbo,,,,but if you are pushing too much psi on the turbo that is almost normal..after you remove your foot from the gas there should be little smoke not much,,,,,it could be one of the seals on the turbo not fitted correctly...

Yes you could return to the stock calibration once you've removed the turbo.

If I go back to the original tune after removing the exhaust, won´t the 39lbs injectors work differently on a stock tune as well ?
