Hey guys,

Made a discovery on sunday, a very small puddle (3-4 drops) of red fluid under the car, near the newly just installed 2 months ago, new automatic tranny. My first thought that its leaking from the tranny. I have my eyes on it like crazy and havnt seen anymore signs of leakage since then. I even took the car out and drove hard and nice to see if it would leak again but no signs of leaks. Whats going on here, how it just spit out a couple of drops and then nothing at all, bone dry....?!?!

Maybe it was your tranny's "that time of the month"?!?

I believe that the pressure can build up sometimes and cause it to overflow out of the hose that's on the top of the tranny.

If it ever starts acting up though, STOP IMMEDIATELY! You don't want to end up like I've been for the past 5 months.

Agree with BW. Probably just was overfilled a little.

Some times if you get a cold night the seals sometimes shrink and will leak a little. It's something we deal with on aircarft.

not good for it to be leaking, because its a PITA to check / add fluid

Mine always leaves a few drops on the floor after I top off the fluid and drive it around a bit.

Thes trannies have a vent in the back near the tailshaft. There is a rubber hose running from that vent, to the ballhousing part of the tranny. The hose just dumps the vented fluid out by the torque converter and it will drip down.
This will happen on pretty much any automatic if it is driven hard and then parked. You're not leaking - you're venting!
