Default Whipple 5 psi no inter cooler

I was hoping to hear some more feedback on those who have done the 5 PSI Whipple Supercharger. I have dropped my 2008 GT Mustang off to Tasca Ford in RI for a 5 PSI Whipple Supercharger without the inter-cooler, hood pins and FRPP Hurst shifter. I know everyone says to spend the money now and get the inter-cooler installed but that was a budget decision and even though it made sense to do it, my wallet said NO. Anyway my plans are to take my seasonal non-daily driver and each spring make mods on exhaust, suspension and body until I get this car build as my dream car. Years down the road I can upgrade to a higher PSI charger but now I have to wonder...why? If between a 5 PSI and full exhaust I can get this car to a low-mid 400 H/P range, isn't that enough if I just want good solid muscle car performance? Who out there has the 5 PSI with free flowing exhaust and 93 octane tuning and how does your Mustang run? Who else is struggling with this question on keeping an engine healthy for many years and not killing it with high boost? See me in 5 years and knowing me, I'll have upgraded to 10 PSI as horsepower is like a drug it seems. Look forward to the comments.

Well, it seems most people who get SC'd are gunna want a little more HP over the life of their car(with the mod bud and all). The thing is, you're kinda limiting what you can do with non-IC in terms of power. If you wanna push anymore power and you really need to go intercooled. So it's really just thinking ahead to save a few bucks. If you're happy with low 400s, then that's all that counts.

I'm pretty happy with my 10PSI. I don't think I would want anymore than 500 cuz I don't think it will make it anymore fun to drive on the street...just more illegal, lol. But then again, who knows. Right now it's my daily driver, and when I get another DD, maybe I'll change my mind and want 600...who knows.

What's the cost of the shifter + hood pins (with labor)?

If it's even close to the price of the inter-cooler, perhaps that's the best route for now?

Whipple says 415HP at 6psi on a non-IC. I wouldn't push it any higher without a IC. The other thing is you can always add the parts later. I would also look at if you can do the work yourself or have to pay someone and what it will cost.

And that's at the crank. Better to go IC now, otherwise you'll have to pick up other mods (fuel!) later.

Its best to mod wisely. If you are not getting the intercooler than you have to say honestly that this is as high as you want to go. Most guys get the intercooler and crank up the boost right away or a little down the road. But the point being, don't re-do a mod twice cause it will end up costing you extra money and you'll kick yourself for not going all the way from the start.
